slr camera?

Question by Megan G: slr camera?
I’m wanting to buy an SLR camera, but,of course,I am on a very tight budget. Is there any possible way I could make payments on one, like on a website?

Answer by one_realist
Hello. I don’t think there’s any website to do such. Usually stores have something like this when purchased with a proprietary credit card. You could get the Canon EOS Rebel K2 kit which comes with a 28-90mm lens, and it’s a good camera. Canon is a solid camera manufacturer and has soo many accessories and lenses to choose from. Maybe just try out for a credit card and pay double the minimum each month to get it paid for. Good luck.

I am buying a Olympus E500 digital Slr camera. Will the lenses from my Olympus OM40 35mm camera fit?

Question by biggles: I am buying a Olympus E500 digital Slr camera. Will the lenses from my Olympus OM40 35mm camera fit?
This is my first digital Slr camera and I have read somewhere 35mm Slr camera lenses interchange if the same make? Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

That is best tested in a camera store.

Take your OM40 with lens and see if the lens will indeed fit the E-500 and allow you to use all the functions of the camera/lens configuration

I know that lenses made from 1959 to present by Nikon will work on the DSLR’s made by Nikon (of course manual lenses will only work manually) and Canon EOS lenses made after 1985 will work on all the Canon EOS bodies (35mm or film) … that is the extent of my knowledge. Sony (Minolta), Pentax and Olympus are not in my knowledge base.

Q&A: Is SLR worth the extra cost on a digital camera?

Question by Ependa: Is SLR worth the extra cost on a digital camera?
Having problems with my old digital camera and I will be replacing it. I’d like to upgrade…I am not a pro, but I’d like to get better quailty pics as I will be travelling alot in the next 2 years …what do you think? Should I just invest the extra dollars? Also , are the lower ends okay..I really don’t want to invest 1k into a camera. What about this one if I go SLR…?

Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm Lens – Black

Thanks very much; any advice / tips on buying is greatly appreciated. I am of course checking out ratings for cameras , but it would be nice to have a little more than that to go on. :-)

That all depends on what you wish to do with a camera. If you take your photography seriously and maybe even have a career out of it, then yes, they’re definitely worth the money. The fantastic image quality and the full manual settings make them just right for professionals.
But for what you are after, I’m thinking a camera that would be appropriate for you would be the Canon Powershot SX110. Successor to the popular SX100, it boasts 9 megapixels, 10x optical zoom, 3 inch LCD, full manual control and it’s at a great price (around $ 300 USD).

Do digital SLR camera prices go down during the summer?

Question by All In My Head: Do digital SLR camera prices go down during the summer?
My dad said supposedly the Nikon D40 I want to buy will go down during the summer. I’m not too sure if that’s true or not…kinda doubting it.
I’m buying it online.

Last summer I purchased the D60. I paid around $ 650 with a 18-55mm VR kit. That was a pretty good deal. The other day I was looking at what I would’ve saved if I had waited but prices have not gone down at all. I think it would be worth it to buy now and if you would’ve saved $ 15 then that’s great. But the truth is the longer you wait to buy a camera, the cheaper it gets because the technology gets older and older. If it was me I would just buy it now. Good luck.

Question by nomo b: Will Nikon Film SLR lenses be usable to Nikon Digital SLR cameras? I want to confirm because I heard they do.?
Im just going into photography now. I know very little. I was recently given a Nikon film slr camera with a set of awesome lenses. I was planning to buy a Nikon digital slr camera and was wondering if I could use the film camera lenses on the digital camera. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Generally yes, although they may not have the full function of a new lens.

You may have to manually focus, that is turn the focus ring on the lens yourself rather than a motor doing it. The auto focus control system should still give some indication when it finds a point in focus.

Metering and exposure modes may be limited to manual only rather than the full range of automatic exposure modes.

Despite these limitations Nikon lenses are very good optically and worth using.
